Okay, so it's been five months since I updated the website. Ahem, apologies. I have been busy, although that's not really a good excuse. In the intervening months though, I did a big two month tour of the USA and put out an album in Europe, North America and Australia & New Zealand, called There The Open Spaces. You can read some review clippings and hear some tracks from it here. Actually the reviews were pretty good... thanks for that.

In other news, a new Sleeping States song will appear on a limited edition gatefold 7" split with Fanfarlo on Felt Tip Records. Actually it's a Throwing Muses song. Anyway, Sleeping States will be doing a short run of shows with Fanfarlo in support of the release at the end of February / beginning of March. You can check the details here.

there's been some changes to the us tour dates due to some last minute rescheduling. you can check the dates here - more are being added at the moment and i'll update the shows page as they come in.

i have a new single out today. it's the songs I Wonder / Under A Capricorn Sky and it comes out on limited edition 7" vinyl with such beautiful packaging, on the caspian label.

you can buy it here.

there are some reviews of it (and other sleeping states stuff) at boomkat (single of the week), music (for robots), said the gramophone, nothing but greenlights, dazed and confused, and elsewhere.

i've also added usa and uk tour dates to the tour page. so go have a look.

hello there, i am your very own markland starkie. how are you?

i have a single coming out on the caspian label on july 30th. it'll be available on seven inch and digital download. the tracks are 'i wonder' and 'under a capricorn sky' and you can have a listen to them here.

the long player 'there the open spaces' will be out in the uk, europe (tome) and north america (misra) in september. fun times.
